Muse is an agentic AI, internally known as Hatch during development, that works inside a secure virtual environment, unlike traditional generative chatbots that simply summarize text or create responses. Powered by Meta’s newest frontier AI models, Muse can browse the web, complete online forms, manage email communication, and integrate third-party apps directly.
The agent is available to adult users in the U.S. via a standalone Muse mobile app, integrated into WhatsApp and is set to launch on Instagram, Facebook and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.

Security and Privacy Architecture
Data security is a major concern for an autonomous agent that has access to personal emails, calendars and payment information. Meta builds Muse on a sandboxed infrastructure called the Muse Secure VM.
Individual user agents run on their own dedicated cloud virtual machine, keeping personal data separate from the main training pipelines and Meta’s advertising engine. Meta also announced an internal supervisor called Sentinel, which asks users for explicit permission before the agent sends messages, completes transactions or accesses external web domains.
