Adle Exarchopoulos, her birthday is 22 November 1993, was born in Paris and a very few years later became one of the most distinguisheds faces of the present day French film industry. She was brought up in the 19th arrondissement, near Place des Ftes, where her mother, Marina Niquet, was doing nursing, while her father, Didier Exar-chopoulos, was for quite some time a manager of a restaurant and after that he changed his career to film producer. He was originally of Greek descent. Adle has two younger brothers. When she was about nine, Adle’s parents, who decided that the best way to help her out of her stage fright was to have her attend drama classes, basically enrol their daughter in theatrical training. It was while attending such a class that she was discovered by an agent.
Mid-2000s was starting point for her acting career through several short film projects and TV shows including guest role in R.I.S. Police scientifique episode and also Jane Birkin’s autobiographical film Boxes (2007). After taking a minor role in Les Enfants de Timpelbach, La Rafle, and Pieces of Me she was recognized as the new generation by the French cinema academy known as the Csar Academy in 2011. At the age of nineteen, Exarchopoulos played the lead role as the main character in Kechiche’s Blue Is the Warmest Colour alongside La Seydoux. Their film explored the theme of a young woman’s self-discovery in great detail; the intimate portrayal won the Palme d’Or at Cannes; the jury, chaired by Steven Spielberg, made an unheard-of decision to award the prize to both the director and the two main actresses as a joint effort.
To this day, Exarchopoulos remains the youngest winner ever to receive the award at the festival. Her great acting behind this movie also led to her receiving the Caesar Award for Most Promising Actress as well as the Chopard Trophy and many other critics’ awards around the world. After that, both leads criticized the arduous work as well as the explicit scenes, but this is the film that has brought her worldwide recognition and popularity.

In 2024 she won in the category of Best Supporting Actress at the Csar ceremony for her work on Jeanne Herry’s Je verrai toujours vos visages (All Your Faces). She was also the voice of Ennui in Pixar’s Inside Out 2.
She’s been recognized over the past few years not only in France but also worldwide as one of the most sought-after actresses a country could offer. Two feature films were Passages and The Animal Kingdom, some short films were Planet B and Dupieux’s L’Accident de piano. At the same time, she picked up a role title in Herry’s Garance, took Claudie in Christophe Honor’s Mariage au got d’orange, and also started working in English language production with a lead role opposite Zo Kravitz in Megan Park’s untitled Apple film and playing the wife of Austin Butler in Park Chan-wook’s Western The Brigands of Rattlecreek.
Exarchopoulos gave birth to a son named Ismal one year ago. A devoted mother, Exarchopoulos has been adamant about safeguarding her son’s privacy and about the stabilizing effect of the family. While she is intense with her acting, she appears to be very sincere on the outside and is not pretending to be something she is not. A remarkable female figure, a star of the French cinema, twenty-plus years after her first roles, she remains a leading figure in French films and she is continuing to select roles that appeal to her rather than pursuing the usual star’s path.
