Interviewer: Dr. Hammett, let’s start with the heart of this. What is Attend Together?

Dr. Beverlin Hammett: Attend Together is a premium app that we created to help Christians and Seekers of truth find Bible preaching churches and connect with other people who do not want to attend alone. In other words, it is a Christian faith-centered community app designed to help people worship together, visit church services, build relationships, join others for church online, and stay connected both in person and online.

At its core, Attend Together is about removing one of the barriers that keeps many people from going to church which is walking in alone or sitting at home alone and watching services online…alone!

Interviewer: That’s a wonderful idea. Many people want to go to church, but the uneasiness of showing up alone can stop them before they ever get through the door. And I know a lot of people who watch church services online. Why did you feel called to start this now?

Dr. Beverlin Hammett: I was based outside America as a Christian missionary for over a decade and have traveled around the world for various reason. Here in the states, I see that there are spiritually hungry people who are lonely and socially disconnected. Seeing how other countries in Asia and Africa and certain Middle Eastern nations are so much more connected to each other, as the Body of Christ, I just don’t see the same thing here in the United States.

And this idea came to me one day while I was watching a church’s Baby Dedication service and there was a single Mom, standing by herself holding her baby, and no one, NO ONE in that church that seats about 800 people came and stood with her!!! I was yelling at my screen; GET UP AND STAND WITH HER!

Interviewer: That makes this mission very personal and very practical. So, when a user joins Attend Together, what happens first?

Dr. Beverlin Hammett: Well, there are two different types of users: an individual user and a church administrator who is signing up their church or claiming a church that is already listed.

First, an individual user signs up and completes a simple onboarding process. They share things like their location, church preferences, age group, worship style preferences, service time preferences, family or life-stage needs, and what kind of church experience they are looking for.

The goal is not to collect unnecessary information. The goal is to understand enough about the person to help them find churches and people who may be a meaningful fit for their faith journey, their season of life, and their desire for Christian community.

For example, someone may be looking for a church with strong children’s ministry, while someone else may be looking for a Bible-teaching Holy Spirit-filled environment. Some may be looking for a smaller congregation, a traditional worship style, or a church where they can connect with other college students who are Born Again believers. Attend Together helps organize that information so the user is not starting from confusion, loneliness, or random searching.

The platform then uses those preferences to help the user discover churches nearby, view service options, and connect with other Children of God or even Seekers who are also looking to attend worship services, both online and in person.

For church administrators, the process is different. A church administrator can claim a church that is already listed or register their church so they can manage their church profile, update important information, and use tools that help more people discover and connect with their ministry.

Churches can also send invitations to encourage members, visitors, and people in their community to use Attend Together. That helps churches invite people into a more connected experience, where they can discover services, engage with the church community, and take steps toward attending.

Interviewer: This sounds amazing and…

Dr. Beverlin Hammett : …I must add that privacy is very important. We do not give churches access to people’s private personal information. Churches do not receive private user profiles, personal contact details, matching information, or sensitive onboarding answers. They can only engage through the tools and information that are intentionally made available for church connection, invitations, and community prayer support.

So, the first step is really about alignment. We are helping individual users take a step toward belonging, and we are helping churches become more visible, welcoming, and responsive to people who are searching for a church home.

Interviewer: That is helpful because many people do not know where to start when they are looking for a church. Once the user completes onboarding, how does Attend Together help them find the right church or the right people to attend with?

Dr. Beverlin Hammett: Users can search for churches near them, view church profiles, look at service schedules, and filter by preferences such as denomination, worship style, distance, service times, church size, and programs.

But beyond browsing, Attend Together is designed to help with matching. The app can help identify churches that align with a user’s preferences and needs. It also helps users connect with other people who may be open to attending the same church service, joining a squad, or participating in a watch party.

Interviewer: That connection piece seems to be the difference-maker. What does it look like when users want to attend with someone else?

Dr. Beverlin Hammett: A user can discover a church or service and then find others who are also interested in attending. Paid users can view matches, connect through chat, coordinate attendance, create or join squads, and plan a visit together.

For someone who feels nervous, this can change everything. Instead of saying, “I might go to church someday,” they can say, “I am going with someone this Sunday.”

Interviewer: That turns intention into action. And you mentioned squads. What role do squads play?

Dr. Beverlin Hammett: Squads are small groups of users who can attend together, encourage each other, and build community around shared church attendance. A person may not only need a one-time match. They may need consistent encouragement, familiar faces, and a small circle that helps them keep showing up.

Attend Together is not just about getting someone to one service. It is about helping people build rhythm, consistency, and belonging.

Interviewer: That brings up another part of the app: online attendance. How do watch parties work?

Dr. Beverlin Hammett: Some churches have online services through YouTube or Vimeo. Attend Together allows users to create or join virtual watch parties when a church has a stream available. People can watch together, chat in real time, and still experience a sense of shared worship.

This matters because not everyone can attend in person every week. Some people are homebound, traveling, or exploring before they visit physically. Watch parties give them a way to begin connecting without being isolated.

Interviewer: I see that Attend Together only offers subscriptions for one month, three months, or six months. Why did you choose those options instead of an annual subscription?

Dr. Beverlin Hammett: We chose shorter subscription options for individual users because Attend Together is designed to help people take an immediate step toward real connection, not lock them into a long commitment to an app.

Someone may need the app for a season while they are finding a church, building confidence, joining others for services, or reconnecting with Christian community. A one-month, three-month, or six-month option gives them that flexibility.

But for churches, the need is different. Churches may have an annual subscription because they are using it as a ministry tool to stay visible, invite people, manage their church presence, and create a more welcoming pathway for people who are searching.

Interviewer: That makes the app more accessible. How does Attend Together keep people engaged after they attend?

Dr. Beverlin Hammett: Attend Together includes features like visit logging, streaks, badges, stories, prayer requests, and community feed activity. Users can record attendance, share testimonies, post what moved them during a sermon, ask for prayer, and encourage others.

The purpose is not gamification for entertainment. The purpose is encouragement. When someone sees that they have attended consistently, shared a story, prayed for someone, or received encouragement, it reinforces that their faith journey matters.

Interviewer: I like that distinction. It is not about turning church into an app experience; it is about using technology to support real spiritual connection. How does Attend Together help churches?

Dr. Beverlin Hammett: Churches benefit because Attend Together helps people discover them, learn about their services, and take the first step toward visiting. A church profile can show important information such as service times, location, ministry offerings, photos, and whether the church has been verified.

Churches can claim their church profile and once approved, a church admin can access tools that help them understand engagement, manage their information, and better welcome people who are searching for a church home.

Interviewer: So, this can help churches reach people who may never have visited otherwise. What kinds of church admin features are planned?

Dr. Beverlin Hammett: Church admins can have access to dashboard tools such as analytics, branding, invites, and profile management. The idea is to give churches a responsible way to understand how people are engaging with their church profile and to help them connect with people who are interested in attending.

For example, if someone is planning a first-time visit and has opted in, the church can receive a notification so they can prepare to offer a warm welcome. That small action can make a major difference for someone walking through the doors for the first time.

Interviewer: That is powerful because many churches want to welcome people well, but they do not always know who is coming or what barriers they are facing. How does Attend Together protect users? I mean, how does it protect user’s privacy.

Dr. Beverlin Hammett: Safety and privacy are essential. Every user decides what they want to share, when they want to share it, and with whom. We do not give churches, church administrators, or other users open access to private profiles, personal contact information, sensitive onboarding answers, matching details, location details, or private activity inside the app.

Churches can use Attend Together to be more welcoming, send invitations, manage their church presence, and respond in appropriate community spaces, but they are not given private access to people’s personal information. Other users also only see what someone intentionally shares through approved features.

So, the heart of it is consent and control. Attend Together helps people connect, but it does not force exposure.

We want users to feel safe taking a step toward church community without feeling like their privacy has been handed over to anyone else.

Interviewer: That is important because people need to know they can take a step toward community without losing control of their personal information. As Attend Together gets closer to release, what do you hope people feel when they hear about it?

Dr. Beverlin Hammett: I hope they feel encouraged and expectant. Attend Together is being built for people who want a place to call home and connect with the Body of Christ, so they are not worshiping alone.

My prayer is that people will see Attend Together as a premium app and think, “This can help me connect. This can help me find where I belong. This can help me to no longer worship alone.”
