Google Teases Its New ‘Fitbit Edge’ Wearable Ahead of October 12 Reveal

Google might be looking to launch its rumored Fitbit Edge next Monday. The company posted a teaser on X with the message ‘Get an Edge on your health’ alongside the date “10.12.26,” which reporters interpret as October 12, 2026. The teaser is the only thing officially confirmed: a tagline and a date.

The product name ‘Fitbit Edge’ comes from leaks and reporting, not a formal product announcement. Google’s post include an image of what appears to be a side button on the new wearable.

Images of this new Fitbit device have been doing rounds since at least August, when 9to5Google spotted an unnamed fitness tracker in some of Google’s Pixel marketing. However, it was not until Android Headlines shared images of the Fitbit Edge that the name of the wearable was revealed. The brand also included details of its built-in apps and health tracking features.

These details were further flashed out in a report from French magazine Dealabs, which confirmed the device’s design and name. They also included additional information on its battery life and possible price.

Details shared suggest that the upcoming device could feature a 1.34-inch always-on OLED touchscreen. It will also come with a built-in GPS and several other sensors, including and accelerometer, barometer, altimeter, and gyroscope. The device may also come with optical sensors for measuring heart rate and blood oxygen saturation (Sp02) and electrical sensors for capturing ECGs.

The trackers may also be able to notify wearers about potential atrial fibrillation and irregular heart rhythms. A full pixel watch offers more processing power and app depth. This reinforces the Edge’s reported positioning as a tracker than a smartwatch replacement.

Smartphone notifications alongside limited access to Google Maps, YouTube Musci, and Find My Phone are among the reported software features. The actual scope of app functionality is unconfirmed, which keeps the device clearly in tracker inventory for now. Whether it runs Wear OS or a separate platform has not been clearly established.

Fitbit Edge wearable will reportedly last for up to seven days on a charge if its always-on display, and two days if it’s on. It could cost about €179when it goes on sale Europe. But considering the Fitbit Air starts at $99 in the US and €99 in Europe, the new tracker could wind up being closer to $180 in the US.

What Google has confirmed is narrow. Compatibility details are worth watching closely, since reported Android and iPhone compatibility could vary by feature or region once official documentations appears. For now we just have to keep waiting for what is bound to come.

Fitbit Charge 6 is the last similarly-sized fitness tracker Google introduced way back in 2023. If everything being reported is true, the Fitbit Edge seems like a natural step up from the Fitbit Air. Actually, it is another remarkable way to push people to a Google Health Premium subscription. We’ll need to wait until October 12 to see if Google follows through.
