East bay steel plant property bought for more than $200 million

The massive industrial land formerly known for housing a steel manufacturing facility in East Bay has now been sold for more than $200 million. The deal of buying and selling was recorded with the office of the Contra Costa County Recorder on December 20 2025 with a transfer of the plant’s property in Pittsburg from a shuttered facility for $275 million.

Besides sheets of various coatings like cold rolled and galvanized, the facility offered tinplate and other products made out of steel in production for a long period. Operations ceased around two years at this location before the sale of the property. Currently, the area covers 11 pieces of land that are mainly located around Loveridge Road, East Third Street area, Columbia Street, and the Antioch-Pittsburg Highway in the eastern part of Contra Costa County. Ownership was passed through a quitting claim deed that allowed the transfer of the site and buildings of a factory to a real estate company that specializes in the management of such large properties,

In its day, the factory was a crucial contributor to employment in the area and also represented a key manufacturing entity in the whole region. Its being left alone resulted in a major industrial property on the waterfront remaining unused which in turn has led to speculation over the plans for the site within manufacturing and real estate industries which are changing the Bay Area in one way or the other: while there are no concrete proposals publicly available for the use of the property, the deal highlights sustained interest in major industrial properties in East Bay.

In this context that the holdings of these properties still hold strategic value for future development, logistics or industrial production activity, such an acquisition is a big factor. The local community observes that the closing of this deal might set the economy of the industrial city of Pittsburg as well as the neighboring townshiptoward their new business.
