Artificial intelligence is continuing to see huge amounts of investment being poured into the industry and Fal, an artificial intelligence infrastructure startup based in San Francisco, has announced that they have raised a total of $1.65 billion in funding across its Series E and Series F rounds, bringing its valuation to $16billion in investment. This investment demonstrates how important AI Inference is becoming in the generation of new image/video/audio models.
On the 3rd of November 2026 Fal announced that they had raised 1.3 billion in their Series F round led by Bessemer Venture Partners. Other investors include NVIDIA, Sound Ventures, T. Rowe Price. They also announced they had raised 16 billion in their Series E round led by Sequoia Capital.
This investment brings the total amount raised to $1.65 billion in new capital. The latest Series F investment values Fal at approximately $16 billion, doubling their valuation from $8 billion back in April 2026. This shows how much confidence is being placed in organisations developing infrastructure for generative AI.
Fal were founded in 2021 by Burkay Gur and Gorkem Yurtseven. They provide infrastructure for developers, businesses and creative teams to utilise thousands of AI models. Their technology focuses around models that create images, video and audio.
Inference refers to using trained AI models to provide real time outputs. This means that there needs to be large amounts of compute power, efficient infrastructure, and reliable performance. The media generated by generative AI is becoming extremely advanced so companies need to utilise platforms that can keep up with the high demand.
Fal have positioned themselves well in this growing market by providing tools that make it easy for customers to use different AI models. They have customers in media, marketing, e-commerce, gaming and advertising.
The company has shown incredible growth due to increased demand for AI Inference. Earlier in 2026 they passed the $800 million mark in annualised revenues (Bloomberg). However their increased customer base has caused issues with their infrastructure.

Burkay Gur, Chief Executive Officer explained that the business faced a time in the summer where they ran out of compute power and had to cap how much customers could use. This shows how quickly demand can grow.
Other AI infrastructure businesses such as Baseten, Fireworks AI and Modal are also seeing increased growth as businesses are becoming more reliant on high performance inference platforms.
The new investment will be used to help scale their compute, improve research and hire more people. This will help them achieve their development goals throughout 2027.
They will increase their inference power to cope with more computationally heavy video/image models. They will also look into new research opportunities and improve their models using post training methods.
Fal’s 16 billion valuation is not just a great achievement for a startup but shows that infrastructure providers are becoming more valuable. As generative AI becomes more common, having reliable inference infrastructure will become crucial. Fal have a lot of resources to help them compete in this market with their latest investment, however keeping profitable with high compute costs will be a challenge.
Whether Fal can scale their business with the increasing demand will ultimately decide if they deserve their high valuation. However, this latest investment shows how much people are believing that the future of artificial intelligence will be driven by not just powerful models but infrastructure that can bring them to life.
